Product Specification
SOP – exhibiting a needle like micro-structure with no soft matrix which provides a hardness of RC 68-72 with a maximum coating thickness of just 1.5 mm only. The unique needle like structure resists penetration by flying particles ensuring highly extended service life of a part coated with SOP.

• Use Carbon Arc Methods. Slightly warm and clean the surface. Apply SOP as above.
• Fuse using a pointed 6mm/8mm carbofuse (negative polarity).
• Use a crescent-shaped weave for uniform bead width and full coverage.
Clean the surface before application. Apply SOP to a maximum thickness of 1.5 mm using a brush. Allow the coating to dry completely. Fuse with a generous carburising flame until the crystals stop glowing. This indicates sweating, i.e., the bonding of SOP with the base metal. Move the flame steadily to keep the bonding process ahead of the heating source, with path width depending on component size and thickness.
